Yuletide 2020 Recs
Dec. 26th, 2020 08:29 pmThis is my first Yuletide, and I have been blown away by how many amazing stories I've read.
The Locked Tomb | Gideon the Ninth Series
First of all, my gifts were incredible:
ill tidings (no comfort, no joy) (T, 2.7k)
A heartbreaking, funny, heartbreakingly funny character study of Mercymorn the First.
How it didn't happen (T, 1.5k)
Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus. A hilarious Soulmates AU, which everyone should read, regardless of whether you usually like Soulmates AU's or not. Trust me.
And I very much enjoyed these others:
Dignity (T, 1.2k)
Pre-relationship Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus. Bust-a-gut funny AU in which the Second challenges the Ninth instead of the Sixth for their keys.
The Emperor's Daughter (T, 2.3k)
Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus. A very delightful Regency AU.
The Daevabad Trilogy
Of Water and Weapons (G, 2.2k)
Background Zaynab/Aqisa. A lovely story about Zaynab coming into her own post-Empire of Gold and setting off on her adventures.
In Good Time (G, 1.7k)
Background Muntadhir/Jamshid and Ali/Nahri. A sweet, adorable fic following Ali as he deepens his romance with Nahri and, most importantly, works to repair his relationship with his brother.
The Queen's Thief
Heiro's Other Earrings (G, 2.2k)
Heiro/Ileia. Phresine takes Heiro under her wing! Two of my favorite canon ladies interacting in a completely unexpected but completely delightful way!
The Tillerman Cycle
Cherry Stone (G, 4.5k)
An absolutely lovely story following Maybeth Tillerman as she grows into herself. It took me right back to how I felt reading this series for the first time.
